How To Clean An Oriental Rug Without A Vacuum Cleaner

Tools and materials you will need to prepare:

Mild dish soap;
A bucket of cold water;
A scrub brush with soft bristles;
and a squeegee

Step #1 Loosen up the dirt

The first thing that you need to do is take your rug outside and hang it on a tree limb, or hang it on a clothesline. If you are stressed out, this is a fun activity for you. Step #2 Mix your water with a mild liquid soap

Step #3 Brush, brush, brush!

Step #4 Rinse thoroughly

Use your garden hose to rinse the soap out. Repeat until the water runs clear to make sure there is no soap left.

Step #5 Use a squeegee for drying

To help the rug dry faster, use a squeegee to get the water out off the carpet while it is hanging. You can use a hair blower to help with the drying faster but make sure that the setting isn’t set to high because it can ruin the fibers and you’ll end up with an old-looking rug.

Before you bring back the rug inside, make sure that it is completely dry to prevent molds under your oriental rug.
